UR Students
While seeking to serve the Greater Richmond community as a whole, the Richmond Center for Christian Study places a central emphasis on being a relational resource for interested students at the University of Richmond.
Here is a list of specific ways in which students at the University of Richmond can take advantage of what the Richmond Study Center has to offer. If you would like to learn more about such opportunities, please do not hesitate to contact us.
1) Student Internships — This is a way for UR students to go a little deeper in their explorations of the content and veracity of a biblical worldview and its bearing on all of life and culture. (Average time commitment is 45-60 minutes per week.)
Interns read four books or watch four video series pertaining to the four categories of worldview, apologetics, culture and theology over the course of the school year (this can be modified under certain circumstances) and share brief reflections with each other (see our Internship Group Page on Facebook), followed by personal one-on-one conversations.
2) Monthly Lunch Discussions — Every month we will provide a free student lunch and discussion next to the University of Richmond pertaining to a particular question regarding the content and veracity of a biblical worldview and how it bears on every area of life and culture.
Watch our calendar (to the right) to see when and where lunches will be, and what we will be discussing.
3) Free Entry to Community Events — A couple of times per semester we hold major events that are open to the Greater Richmond community as a whole. While there is a small registration fee for the general public, college students are able to come for free with a valid student ID.
4) Resource Center — We are working to acquire a resource center next to the University of Richmond for interested students at the University of Richmond and others throughout the Greater Richmond community.
This will be a place where you can come and check out or purchase various resources (books, audio books, videos, etc.) relating to worldview, apologetics, culture and theology. It will also be a place of hospitality (with coffee, computers, couches, etc.) where you can come and explore, ask questions, enter into discussions, or just study.
We will also have a multi-layered event calendar, including speaking events from UR professors and others on how a biblical worldview bears on their field of study or particular interest, video showings on a range of topics, movie and discussion times, etc.
5) One-on-One Conversations — Relationships are foundational to everything we do at the Richmond Study Center. If you would like to get together to chat about anything you are wrestling with or just curious about, please do not hesitate to contact us.
It should be noted that, while the Richmond Study Center seeks to build relationships with interested students and faculty within the UR community, the Richmond Center for Christian Study is not established as a ministry on the University of Richmond campus, nor is there a formal relationship between the Richmond Center for Christian Study and the University of Richmond.
